Last nights dinner was a bit of a let down. The shredded pork was dried out like it had been sitting around. Service was or as they only had one waitress working. All in all Fort Myers no longer has a real good, moderately priced Mexican restaurant anymore since Carmencitas left. Does anyone know of any?

This place is a dive, but it's clean, service is friendly, and food is good. The guacamole is so creamy and delicious. The chips are cut rather thick. Thick and greasy, just how I like them. I was in a snacky mood, so I ordered nachos. Just what I was hoping for, really cheesy baked nachos! My husband had one of the fish special, it was fish and shrimp in a diablo sauce. He loved it. Home made corn tortillas were awesome. They have margaritas, but they are made from wine, I still enjoyed it. Good dinner. I feel 10 pounds heavier!

I finally got a chance to check this place out. My wife and I came here for lunch and it didn't disappoint. The salsa and chips were very different than I've ever had before. The salsa was mild with a nice smokiness and the chips were thicker than you would normally get with nice air pockets and no salt at all that I could detect. My wife had a cheese and shrimp enchiladas app that was just enormous and very good! I had the Taco combo. So I got one steak and one chicken. These were the strangest taco's I've ever had. They were approx 3.5 to 4 inches across and not at all what you may or may not be used to. They were good, but not all that stuffed with things. The next time I'll get something different. Not that they were bad, just not what I expected.

I love this joint. It's small and not fancy but the best Mexican food in sw Florida. Authentic hone style cooking. Highly recommend this place. Hard to find but totally worth it. It's behind kinkos.

We had lunch there today and although we were the only two people in the restaurant the service was unbelievably slow. The restaurant is definitely a dive, in the worst sense, and yet seems to have so much potential. Both of our meals were very flavorful and the portions were a good size for a very reasonable price. The Chile rellenos were delicious as were the Camarones (shrimp) a La Diabla and the home made corn tortillas. Chile Ranchero could use a serious update to it's decor if it wants to draw more customers. For a start, and at the very least, get rid of the fake leaves and plants, the old projection screen in the corner as well as the projector's ceiling bracket. Better yet the owner, or one of the staff, need to contact chef Robert Irvine at restaurantimpossible.com . With your overall good to great online food reviews and high traffic location you are a prime candidate!

Not a fancy place but the food is great. Prices are low and portions were large. Can't complain about the service either.

I'm a big fan of authentic Mexican, little taquerias and hole-in-the-wall places are my favorites. Chile Ranchero is a perfect combination of authentic and high quality and is simply awesome. What they have done is left out all of the "extreme" food items ie tongue, head, intestines and focused on making basic ingredients taste amazing. The chips are fried fresh and brought out to the table still hot and the salsa is a great combination of spicy and fresh. The shrimp quesadillas are a great way to start and the chimichanga, floutas, and Chile Ranchero are all great entres. You get a good amount of food for $15 and it is worth every penny.

We were pleasantly surprised by how great the food was. There were very few people in the restaurant when we got there so we were skeptical about going in. But we were so glad we stayed. The fajitas vegetables was excellent. The chilies rellinos was very tasty and perfectly cooked. The only down side was the marguerites. They were very weak. Even the chips and salsa were great! Don't worry about the decor. Wait staff were very friendly, too.

Loved it. It was just a little hole in the wall place just a couple of tables but it was really good. I got the enchilada combo with both chicken and beef. The chicken were the best in my opinion with green sauce. It had alot of flavor. They brought chips and a tiny thing of salsa I with they would have brought more because it was very good. I got flan with my and it was good as well. all in all going to go there again!

Come to Chile Ranchero if you want real Mexican food in a casual Mexican environment. The food, service and price give it five stars. Everything is prepared from fresh ingredients. Burrito Ranchero is my dish.

Heard there Chile Rellenos were great and they are very good. But what was better was the enchiladas that came with it. The red sauce on top was more out of this world great! But the service was really bad. One waitress/family member working at lunch time when people are really in a hurry. Considering they don't pay waitress's but a couple of bucks and hour you would think they would hire one and increase the cash flow. We spoke with a couple of regulars who come in once a week for lunch and said it's always the same. Smarten up and put on another server and take your business to the next level. Mexican food at it's best, but service at it's worst! The dining room is typical dive decor.

yes its a hole in the wall kind of place..the floor is painted concrete and the tables look like scrap wood leftover pipe..but who cared? the food was very good..chicken chimichanga was nice with a orange sauce that was good..the wife had a enchilada combo plate that was good also so yes check it out

Great food, excellent prices. Kind of out of the way, and a bit of a 'hole in the wall' but, GREAT Mexican! Definitely worth a try if you're nearby. Only issue I had was that we were there during business hours lunch, and it took forever to get the check and get out. Food was fantastic though.

This is consistently the best quality Mexican restaurant in Fort Myers, period. The tacos and fajitas are my favorite, my twelve year old loves the chorizo quesadilla, guacamole and the desserts, and my husband likes the steak and meat dishes. The decor isn't fancy, but I don't care! The restaurant is clean, the food is fresh and made from scratch, and the staff is very attentive and polite. I honestly don't know why they aren't busier, I think the location is hard to see from 41. We usually walk in and have our choice of seating, and the prices are very reasonable. I know that some people like the upscale Mexican place at Bell Tower, but please try Chile Ranchero, it's the real deal!!!

I had discovered this place and have always wanted to try it. I finally got the chance to order some food to-go. I ordered the combo plate with a carne asada burrito and a beef enchilada with rice and beans. It wasn't the best I ever had but it's better then some of the places I have been to so far in this area. I am from California so I am very picky when it comes to Authentic Mexican food. They have plenty of seating and when I went during the lunch hour there was one table of people so they weren't very busy. Their prices are decent for the amount of food you get. I would definitely eat there again to try other items from their menu.

A little hard to find but so worth it. It's a dive located in a strip mall but the food was great. Enchiladas & steak tacos were yummy. Warm chips & salsa are complimentary.

Not what we are used to. Guacamole had a strong flavor of something I can't even describe. Red seasoning and sauce covered everything. I had beef enchiladas which were not terrible. The chicken burrito and my husband's fajitas were strangely seasoned. The service was great however and the staff very friendly. Like I said just not what we are used to.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
